Children’s Nature Art Camp

Join us at DeVries Nature Conservancy : 2635 North M-52, Owosso
Tuesday-Thursday, 1-5pm

• Week 1 June 11-13 (K-3rd grade)
• Week 2 June 18-20 (4th-8th grade)

Projects Include:

• Tie-Dye: Shirts or Pillowcases

• Nesting With Wool: Learn how to “paint” with wool and roll up a felted masterpiece

• Wig-Wam Painting: Campers will create a painting on canvas squares that will be sewn together to create a collaborative Wig-Wam at DeVries

• Remarkable Reliefs: Explore one of the many ways to create prints, inspired by our hikes

• Reimagining Shadows: Using chalk pastels, create colorful compositions of shadows found around the property

• Toad Abodes: Construct a clay house for our amphibian friends! Abodes with be fired and will be available to pick-up 2 weeks after camp at SAC

• Floating Fish Mobiles: Create a fish out of wire and funky beads to hang from a branch

Daily Hikes and Snacks including a Campfire with s’mores!

Children’s Art Camp: Around the World in 3 Days!

Join us at Shiawassee Arts Center: 206 Curwood Castle Drive, Owosso
Tuesday-Thursday, 1-5pm

• Week 1: June 25-27 (K-3rd grade)
• Week 2: July 9-11 (4th-8th grade)
• Glazing Pottery: July 23 or 24, 10-11am or 5-6pm

Destinations Include:

• China: Construct a Hanging Scroll with your own watercolor on rice paper of a dragon or panda

• India: Imagine and paint Fun, Festive Elephants with acrylic

• Egypt:  Sculpt Canopic Clay Jar and create functional Pottery on the Wheel

• Mexico: Illustrate colorful Talavera Designs on a terracotta pot, perfect for a cactus or succulent plant!

• Amazon Rainforest: Explore The Jungle and Its Inhabitants using chalk pastels

• Polynesian Islands: Create an Embossed Copper Tile inspired by this tropical culture

Daily snacks provided!
$70 SAC member /  $80 non-member

ALL CAMPERS:

• Bring a reusable water bottle with name
• Dress for mess and fun!
• Wear and/or bring sunscreen and bug spray (especially at DeVries!)

If there is anything we should know about your child, such as allergies, please attach a note to the registration form. Payment is required with registration. Refund or credit will be made only for cancellations two weeks prior to the camp week.

Middle School & High School Summer Art Workshops

Join us at Shiawassee Arts Center: 206 Curwood Castle Drive, Owosso

• Tuesday, July 16, 1-3pm: Pottery on the Wheel
  • Play in clay and create 3 functional dinnerware pieces! Glazing to complete your work is on Wednesday, July 24 1-3pm. Dress for mess! Natalie Park & Linda Ruehle, instructors. $30 for SAC members / $35 for non-members
• Wednesday, July 17, 1-3pm: Techniques on the Terrace
  • Overlooking the river, learn drawing techniques using a variety of materials like charcoal and chalk pastels on our terrace. This is a great opportunity to brush up or learn new skills in a beautiful setting. All supplies included, but bring your own (sketchbook, pencils, drawing board, etc) if you wish! Natalie Park, instructor. $20 for SAC members / $25 for non-members
• Thursday, July 18 1-2pm: Art that Sizzles!
  • Design 2 glass pendants or 1 glass tile to be fused in our kiln. The final result makes a great gift for others (or for yourself!). Pieces will be available for pick-up Wednesday, July 24. Linda Ruehle, instructor. $25 for SAC members / $30 for non-members
