Nancy Griffith Parrish, a lifelong resident of Perry, started her artist’s journey after retirement. In 2011 Nancy took a drawing class in East Lansing with Sharon Griffes Tarr, which led to classes at the Shiawassee Art Center. Classes with botanical artist Barb Holmer, basic drawing with Phillip Ruehle, watercolor with Susan McGuire, and sculpture with Jann Johnson Lardie expanded her knowledge. Recently, she was introduced to pastels by Tom Tomasek.
It was a seminar in 2013 by monotype artist Joan Larsen that really inspired Nancy. She has shown this medium at Shiawassee Art Center Members shows, annual Christmas shows, and Shiawassee Artists Guild shows. Nancy has so enjoyed this new phase of her life and is grateful for the Shiawassee Art Center for the enrichment it brings to her life.
