    ELIGIBILITY:
    Looking for Emerging and Established Artists to create Recycle 3-D Sculptures . This exhibition is open to all artists 18 years of age or older.

    SUBMISSIONS AND FEES:
    Only original works may be submitted. The fee is $35 for members and $45 for Non- Members for up to three (3) images of examples of your work. All entries must be registered/received by June 30, 2024  All entry fees are non-refundable.

    Accepted Work Guidelines

    Summary:  Utilizing trash collected from the Shiawassee River, Michigan artists are invited to participate in a new event presented by the Shiawassee Arts Center entitled “Upcycled Art in the Park.” 

    • Call-out will be issued to artists seeking three-dimensional sculptures created from primarily recycled materials (30% from the Shiawassee River/ or river/lake refuse, 50% other waste materials (70% total recycled material), 20% new materials) to help promote the clean-up of the Shiawassee River and raise awareness of its importance in the community. 
    • The resulting sculptures will be on display along the river on the grounds surrounding the Shiawassee Arts Center and in Curwood Castle Park. 

    REFUSE/RECYCLED ITEMS SOURCES:

    Artist can collect Recycled material from any recycled center or your own refuse, as well as:

    • Friends of the Shiawassee River– River Clean up July 21- 29th Link to website

    PRESENTATION:
    1. All artwork must be suitably presented to a professional standard and safe for the Public to walk around. Three-dimensional works will need to be stable enough for handling and displaying. 
    2. The artist needs to provide a method for displaying the work outside in a public park. Plus all hardware for insulation.

    1. Artists provide complete instructions for installation and/or assembly and may be required to assist on the installation of their artwork upon the gallery’s request.
      4. A label must be affixed to the back of the work that indicates- Artist Name, Title, Medium, Dimensions, and Price.
    2. Work cannot be withdrawn, nor sales shipped, before the end of the exhibit.

    6.The Museum will not accept works containing combustible or toxic materials, live animal/plant matter, perishable food products, or other substances that are harmful to the public.

    7.The Museum is a family-oriented facility and reserves the right to refuse any artwork of questionable nature or content that may alter its mission.

    1. Artwork that is accepted and delivered to the Museum must remain in the gallery until the exhibit closes on October 11, 2024.
    2. Artwork will not be sold out of the gallery.
    3. The artist, by submitting their artwork, gives permission to the Shiawassee Arts Center to display the artwork on its website, Facebook, and other social media and will allow the use of their artwork for promotional purposes for the exhibit.

    Artists must arrange to pick up their artwork on October 13, 14, and 15 between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. If an artist is unable to pick up their art on said dates but can arrange for a friend or family member to pick it up instead, please contact us to let us know. Any artwork left after 30 days will be considered abandoned and discarded. 

    LIABILITY:
    Shiawassee Arts Center is not responsible for any damage, breakage, replacement or cost associated with any damage or breakage that may have occurred during the exhibit. Every precaution will be taken in handling the work, but SAC assumes no liability for any loss or damage to any artist’s work while in our care, custody or control, before, during or after the exhibition. Each artist, if they wish, needs to provide their own insurance.
    – SAC will assume the privilege of photographing or using images of accepted work for the purpose of marketing the event in professionally printed posters and postcards, newsletter, website, local press releases, newspaper, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.

    Commission Rate

    – All artwork must be for sale and artist must determine their own prices.

    SALES/COMMISSIONS:
    All artwork must be priced for sale.
    Artwork cannot be withdrawn, nor sales shipped, before the end of the exhibit.
    Shiawassee Arts Center will retain a 30% commission on all exhibition sales. The price represented on the artist entry form will be the sale price. No changes will be allowed.
