Join Anita Brett at SAC for a three hour workshop as you learn how to combine a watercolor sketch on rice paper with mixed media. Each participant will leave with a 6″x12″x3/4″ wood panel of a finished watercolor sketch on rice paper combined over their choice of a vintage music score or novel. The finished work will be protected with a wax medium to preserve the image. Participants should bring three of four simple photocopies to select from as their image to paint onto rice paper. The vintage pages behind the work are a selection of hymnal music, secular vintage music or vintage Shakespeare plays (provided).
Feel free to bring your own vintage literature if you so desire. Watercolor pencils as well as watercolor palettes will be available to use to loosely paint your traced image on rice paper. You might spend time planning what simple image to paint that would make a good composition over selected texts. Butterflies, flowers, leaves, birds and simple human figures are all great choices. No exceptional drawing skill required.
