A new exhibit opened Tuesday showcasing the pastel paintings of award-winning Ovid artist, Tom Tomasek. His exhibit is both a celebration of Michigan and captures the beautiful scenery of his time spent in Japan.

Also exhibiting their masterful multi-media artwork in an exhibit titled Kaleidoscope, are ten wonderfully talented artists/members of the Shiawassee Artists' Guild (SAG).

The opening reception to meet the artists, see their work and enjoy good food and music is Sunday, March 29, 2-4pm. SAC is offering 20% off one purchase from this exhibit during the reception. The show is sponsored by Donna Hebert.

In 2014 Tomasek was one of four Michigan artists selected to exhibit in the "Art from the Lakes" art and artist exchange program with Michigan's Sister State, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. The artists traveled throughout Shiga, exhibited at two galleries and had the chance to visit with Japanese artists and tour their studios. Tomasek's current exhibit is both a document of Michigan and his time spent in Japan where he discovered new landscapes to paint.

The SAG is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2015 in its mission to observe, be inspired, express, learn, share and support each others' artistic endeavors. Members participating in this exhibit are Janet Baugher, Jeanne Curtis, Regina Moskal and Linda Ruehle of Owosso, Bonnie Brown, Susan McGuire and Susan Newcom of Corunna, Jann Johnson Lardie and Julie Penfold of Perry and Tamara Sanders of Bancroft. The artists work individually and jointly in a variety of media including oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, encaustic, drawing, pen & ink, printmaking, pottery, collage and jewelry. Membership is open to mid-Michigan artists who wish to actively participate in Guild programs and go through a jury process.
