Early Learner & Caregiver Art Classes

The Shiawassee Arts Center now has art classes for preschool aged children (4-6) and their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, older siblings or caregivers! Arts and craft projects can help develop children’s creativity, problem solving and motor skills, self-expression and self-esteem, and offer fun one-on-one time outside of the house for you and your budding artist. These classes are meant to serve as an introduction to some basic, hands-on art techniques and methods, and have plenty of room for creativity, experimenting and play for all participants.

Each class is $12 for Members/$14 for Guests. Purchase an annual SAC membership for your child ($20) or the entire family ($50) and receive discounts on classes. Note: A 3% processing fee is applied to all online purchases of SAC classes

Early Learner and Caregiver Art Classes

Age 4-6, plus an adult

Classes are 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the Shiawassee Arts Center (*Unless otherwise noted) (enter through lower level door by the elevator tower)

September 12 – 10am-11:30 – Pottery on the Wheel – Turning eARTh into ART! Learn the basics of throwing on the pottery wheel and make two functional dinnerware pieces. (Requires Glazing class September 26th)
September 26 – 10:30-11:30 – Glazing – Put the finishing touches on your pottery. Pottery will be fired and available for pickup within 10 days.
October 10 – Pumpkin Painting – Get creative with pumpkins – No carving required! In this class our little artists will paint their very own pumpkin-inspired masterpiece on a round canvas. Please bring a box to take the painting home in.
