The Shiawassee Arts Council’s 46th Annual High School Scholarship Competition and Exhibition is quickly approaching. Check-in of artwork is Monday, April 23, 9 am–5 pm.
Set up and judging is Tuesday, April 24. The reception is Saturday, April 28, from 1 to 3 pm with awards presented promptly at 3 pm. There will be approximately $2,000 in scholarships and awards available. Please encourage your students to attend the reception and stay for the awards, even if they are not receiving an award, to support their fellow classmates and artists. It is our hope that a large number of students in all of Shiawassee County, Ovid-Elsie, and Chesaning will want to participate in the show. Students do not need to be currently in an art class to enter.
SAC is pleased to hold the exhibit and reception in the River Gallery at the Arts Center located at 206 Curwood Castle Drive in Owosso. The exhibit will be open April 25–27, noon–5 pm and April 28, noon–3 pm. Please have students invite friends, family, and all school personnel to attend. Also, encourage school tours during this time. Artwork must be picked up following the reception and awards on Saturday, April 28. Please have students make arrangements for pick up if unable to do so. The gallery must be free of all work at that time for a new exhibit.
Additional forms are listed on the right. Copy the forms as needed. Art will be displayed hanging on our display panels and on tabletop easels. If you have table easels of your own to bring, tag with your name. Hanging works with our Walker system need to have wires or fish line across the back of mat boards. Frames with the sawtooth hanger do not work with the system but may be used for tabletop work. 3-D work will be displayed on round tables. If you have any questions, please call (989) 723-8354 or e-mail email@example.com. Thank you for your support of the Shiawassee Arts Center and your art students in this worthy endeavor.
