Saturdays 1PM – 2:30PM * Unless otherwise noted (To keep our Saturday Classes going, we need a consistent minimum of students)

January 21 , 28 & Feb. 4 – Creature Feature with Papier Mache‘ – These creatures will be an exhibit that will Hang at Baker College for March & April, including an opening reception for the students and their families. Part of our Celebration of Youth Art Month in March! Helpers are welcome to come and assist K-3rd students. (* $20 for 3 wk class per member or $24 for non-member, with special Baker support. A savings of $10-$12!) Students need to be able to attend all three weeks to finish project.
February 18 & 25—Wendy’s Celebration of Youth Art Month Project—This project will be an exhibit at Wendy’s Restaurant in the months of March & April. Whimsical Wall hangings. This will be an exciting process, experimenting with a wide array of materials and color to bring it all together! Canvas, Tempera paint, Polymer clay, fiber and sparkle! March 4 & 11—Paper Pulp Sculpture—Inspired by Nature, made of paper! Create a small sculpture of your favorite two creatures, mingled together into one. The second week will be for painting creatures. Gwen Sutton, Instructor. $20 SAC member/$24 non-member
March 18 – Denim all Jazzed Up –
Bring an old pair of worn out or grown out of jeans to upcycle into a purse, bag, journal cover. Design & create! Linda Ruehle, Instructor *1pm—4pm.
March 25—Horsing Around with Color
Learn to capture the beauty and power of horses on paper then paint your pony or bronco with Tempera paint, while learning about color mixing. Learn to make a complicated structure with basic shapes. Gwen Sutton, Instructor

From Sunday, December 4 – Annual Children’s Holiday at the Center – 2-4pm in the gallery Free event for pre-school/elementary ages. Refreshments, Music, & Santa visits! Mary Morgan will be here for book signings with her latest mystery book in the series of books that take place in national parks.

January 11 – Putting Things into Perspective – Learn about one-point perspective with drawing and then paint your picture, using tempera paint…the possibilities for creativity are endless…trees, cars, trucks, planes, people, parades, bridges, boats, etc. Gwen Sutton, Instructor
January 18 – Doing Dishes! Pottery on the Wheel. Learn the basics of using the pottery wheel. Make your own plate, bowl and cup. Practice throwing skills while making functional art! Clay is a wonderful, magical, creative material! Requires Glazing class to finish pieces on March 15. Linda Ruehle, Instructor
January 25 – Printmaking – Create an original carved printing plate with your own design and then transfer to cardstock for cards or farmable art. Simple designs lend themselves best printing. Water soluble inks. Sue Newcom, Instructor.
February 1 & 8 – Two Week Batik – Experiment with the Indonesian concept of wax resist dyeing fabric, but with a more contemporary/child friendly technique with glue for the resist. Linda Ruehle, Instructor. $20 SAC member/$24 Non-member

March 1-Constructing in Clay– Slab rolling, manipulating, coiling, slipping and scoring. It may be vessel, a house , a creature sculpture, slumping clay in a form, a tray, a vase, etc. Linda Ruehle, Instructor. Requires Glazing class to finish pieces, March 15.
