SAC’s 2016 Annual Holiday at the Center!

SAC’s Annual Holiday at the Center Celebrates its 28th Year!

There is something for everyone during the Shiawassee Arts Center’s annual Holiday at the Center! The public is invited to celebrate the season with beautiful decorations, live music, food, drinks and unique art and affordable gift items from 90 talented artists. A wide variety of unique, original works of art from artists throughout Michigan and one from even as far away as Oregon will be on display and for sale.  From metal work, sculptures, blown glass, jewelry, pottery, encaustic, watercolor, photography, oil, acrylic and more this show will have something for everyone on your shopping list.  Visitors will be able to enjoy additional shopping through SAC’s special extended holiday hours — noon-5pm TuesdaySunday.

The Holiday Show opens to the public Sunday, November 13, 2-4pm with a special reception featuring refreshments, live music by Richard Lahmann and a booksigning by local author, Julie Wenzlick. A silent auction with works by Frederick Frieseke, Gordon Graham, Peggy Reimel Abrams and many more artists will run through December 18th. Children’s art classes including the popular Gingerbread Houses are planned every Saturday in addition to a special free Children’s event on Sunday, December 4, 2-4pm with refreshments, music, art activities, booksignings and a visit by Santa.

The show, which continues through December 31st, is sponsored by Memorial Healthcare and Schluckebier/Hood Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors. Outdoor decorating is compliments of Sunburst Gardens.

The Shiawassee Arts Center, located at 206 Curwood Castle Drive in Owosso, features the artwork of local and statewide artists in eight galleries including the Frieseke Gallery and a specialty Gift Shop. The public is welcome, there is no admission charge and the facility is handicap accessible. SAC, which is celebrating its 44th anniversary in 2016, is a non-profit organization whose mission is to encourage participation and appreciation of the arts.
