What a fun Owosso Bike Fest on August 9th at SAC! Michigan DNR/CIS Trail Board Member, Terry McCleod is shown with SAC President, Betty McGinnis just before she started her ride on the new Clinton-Ionia-Shiawasssee Fred Meijer Trail. Families also rode on the 8-mile trail from Owosso to Corunna and back along the Shiawassee River.

Join us for the 2015 Owosso Bike Fest in memory of Alice Morris on Sunday, August 9th, featuring two recreational bike routes of 8 and 22 miles, a continental breakfast, “Owosso Bike Fest” water bottle and event medallion. T-shirts, with support from Lance’s Bakery and designed by award-winning high school student Delaney Asbridge, are available.

The Shiawassee Arts Center in Owosso invites Michigan artists, 18 years and older, to participate in the All Media Juried Michigan Art Competition, August 11 – October 4, 2015. $1,200 in awards will be presented at the opening reception August 16, 2-4pm. Only original works completed within the past two years and not exhibited at the Shiawassee Arts Center will be accepted. Artists may submit up to three entries. Entry forms must be completed online at

The gallery spaces at the Shiawassee Arts Center provide a dramatic stage for the display of all types of artwork. This bi-annual competition, which is one of the few remaining Michigan visual arts competitions, is sponsored by LAFCU with support from the Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The juror is nationally recognized artist Mark E. Mehaffey, who is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, the American Watercolor Society, Transparent Watercolor Society of America, Signature Life member-Master Status, Watercolor West and the Rocky Mountain Watermedia Society, and Louisiana Watercolor Society Signature Life Member. Mehaffey has won major awards in juried exhibitions across the country including the Beverly Green Memorial Purchase Award from the National Watercolor Society and many more. Mehaffey’s work has appeared in several publications and his paintings are included in corporate, public and private collections and many permanent collections. Mark is a popular juror, workshop instructor and lecturer around the country and is listed in “Who’s Who Among Americas Teachers” and “Who’s Who in America”.
